NEW HAVEN, CT – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams competed at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championships on Sunday. The men took 13th place, while the women came in 15th. The meet was held at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
Kyle Hayes (fr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) won the long jump with a distance of 22’ 8.5” (6.92 meters). Nick Tyson (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) finished sixth in the pole vault with a height of 12’ 5.5” (3.80 meters). Kevin Gauntt (so. Delanco, NJ/Seneca) captured sixth place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.13. In the 3,000 meters, Brian Quilty (fr. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) was 11th (9:40.34).
The men’s distance medley relay came in fifth place (10:58.23). The relay was comprised of Andrew Vasta (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph), Steven Rosado (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland), Dan Collier (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Mike Rivera (jr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley). The 4x200 relay of Hayes, Reggie Williams (fr. Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck), Demitri Alicakos (fr. Oceanport, NJ/Shore Reg.) and Rosado took sixth (1:34.20). The 4x800 relay that finished 7th (8:34.89) consisted of Rosado, Collier, Vasta and Rivera.
For the women, Allison Catenacci (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) had a second place in the 500 meters (1:24.03). Angela Patane (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) was second in the 3000 meters (11:05.99), while Liz Guarini (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) took 11th (12:05.13). In the 1000 meters, Heather Carbone (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) placed 10th (3:30.20) and Laura O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) was 12th (3:41.72).
Rowan travels to the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Monday, February 25 at 3 p.m. The meet is being held the John Bennett Athletic Complex in Toms River, NJ.
