LANCASTER, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s swim teams competed in the first and second sessions at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Saturday. The men and women are both currently in third place overall with 388 and 332 points respectively.

The men’s 200 yard medley relay took second place with a time of 1:39.49. The team consisted of Matt Marzolf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Dan Bower (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Kevin Wallace (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Lenape) and Josh Spivey (fr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City). Jeff Terrell (fr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Michael Brooks (so. Brigantine, NJ/Holy Spirit), Spivey and Wallace came in third place in the 800 freestyle relay (7:15.49).

Terrell finished third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:26.23. In the 100 butterfly, Wallace, Stephen Tucker (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart) and Brian McDermott (so. Bergenfield, NJ/Bergen Catholic) came in second (52.33), third (54.42) and fourth (54.80) respectively. Bill Malone (fr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) captured second place in the 200 freestyle (1:45.22). Jake Taylor (so. Millville, NJ/Millville) was second in the 100 breaststroke (59.83).

The women’s 800 freestyle relay was third with a time of 8:25.27. The relay was comprised of Stacey Rahter (so. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Janina Wojcik (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), Jackie Heide (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) and Samantha Edwards (so. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown). Rahter came in second place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.26.

Earlier in the first session on Saturday, the men’s 200 yard freestyle relay took first place with a time of 1:27.44. The relay consisted of Spivey, Ryan McNally (so. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Tucker and Malone. The team of Marzolf, Taylor, Wallace and Malone finished second in the 400 medley relay (3:35.59). Wallace won the 500 freestyle in 4:48.31. Malone finished second in the 50 freestyle (21.86).

For the women, Kate Winters (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) captured third place in the 500 freestyle (5:19.94). Rahter came in third in the 200 IM (2:16.89).

The meet continues on Sunday, December 7 with the final session starting at 10 a.m.
