Rowan Wins 81-46 Over Penn State Berks

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team had an 81-46 win over Penn State Berks in a nonconference game on Wednesday evening.

Forward Amanda Jennings (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) led the Profs with a career high 19 points. Guard Gina Catanzariti (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) followed with 17 points which was a career mark. Catanzariti also grabbed a career high eight rebounds. Guard Nancy White (fr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) contributed with 12 points off the bench. It was also a career high for White. Guard Alissa Lamey (fr. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) dished nine assists.

Rowan has an overall record of 5-3 while Penn State Berks is 2-6 on the season. For the Nittany Lions, guard Jasmine Harris-Kane (so. Philadelphia, PA/Simon Gratz) scored a game high 24 points. Forward Steph Binder (so. Reading, PA/Wilson) contributed with 10 points.

In the first half, Rowan had a seven point advantage (16-9) at 10:02 after two foul shots by Jennings. Penn State Berks scored 12 straight points to go up 21-16 with 6:29 left. Harris-Kane contributed with eight points in the run. Forward Kelly Lallave (so. Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) made a layup for the Profs at the four minute mark that tied the score at 21. Harris-Kane followed with two free throws at 3:10. A three-pointer by Lamey gave Rowan the lead (24-23) with 2:24 left. The Profs closed out the period with a 9-3 surge that made the score 33-26. Harris-Kane totaled 14 first half points.

Rowan started the final stanza with a 13-5 run in 5:42 to lead by 15 points (46-31). Catanzariti totaled seven of the 13 points. Harris-Kane’s two foul shots at 13:24 cut the deficit to 13 points (46-33). It was the closest the Nittany Lions came for the remainder of the game. The Profs followed with a 15-1 run to go up by 27 points (61-34) at 9:36. Guard Danielle Rohe (jr. Dumont, NJ/Dumont) scored six points, Jennings added five and Catanzariti had four. With 2:29 left, Jenning’s layup put the Profs ahead by 29 points (73-44). She compiled 15 points in the second period and Catanzariti contributed with 11.

Rowan travels to Arcadia University on Saturday, December 13 for a 1 p.m. game.
