GLASSBORO, NJ – The New York University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated host Rowan University on Saturday. The NYU men won 144-96 while the women had a 147-96 victory.
The Violet men’s and women’s teams are both undefeated with 3-0 records. The Prof men are 2-1 overall and the women have a 1-2 mark.
Rowan’s Bryan Carlisle (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) took first place in both diving events. Carlisle totaled 253.13 points in the one meter and 355.35 in the three meter. Zachary Castelli (fr. Ventnor, NJ/Atlantic City) had seconds in the one (212.33) and three (223.80) meter diving. For the Rowan women, Samantha Rottkamp (so. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) was the winner in the one meter diving with 206.18 points and she scored 182.55 in the three meter for first place.
Bill Malone (fr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester) swam a winning time of 1:47.88 in the 200 freestyle and Kevin Wallace (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Lenape) followed in second place (1:48.66). Malone finished second in the 100 freestyle (48.29). Wallace also had a second in the 200 butterfly in 2:01.06. In the 200 breaststroke, Jake Taylor (so. Millville, NJ/Millville) was first (2:25.22). Matt Marzolf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) came in second in the 200 backstroke (2:05.02). Jeremy Soto (jr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) was third in the 200 individual medley (2:05.30).
The Rowan men’s 400 freestyle relay took second (3:22.05) with Ryan McNally (so. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Steve Tucker (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart), Josh Spivey (fr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) and Malone. The women’s 400 freestyle relay finished second with a time of 3:52.59. The relay members were Kate Winters (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Janina Wojcik (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), Stacey Rahter (so. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) and Alicia Mackleer (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest).
Rahter was the winner in the 200 individual medley (2:14.97) and the 200 breaststroke (2:32.24). Winters won the 200 backstroke (2:12.81) and was second in the 200 freestyle (2:01.37). Samantha Edwards (so. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) had a first place in the 500 freestyle (5:19.05). In the 50 freestyle, Wojcik and Mackleer finished first (25.37) and second (25.40) respectively. Wojcik also took third in the 100 freestyle (56.12).
Next week, Rowan is home again on Saturday, November 15 against SUNY New Paltz at 1 p.m.
