EWING, NJ – Rowan University quarterback Frank Wilczynski racked up 303 yards of total offense to lead Rowan University to a 42-3 victory over The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.

Rowan improves to 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the conference. TCNJ finishes the season with a 4-6 record and a 4-5 NJAC mark. The Profs will have to wait until Sunday, November 16 to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPNews starting at 3 p.m.

Wilczynski (jr. Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) completed 12 of 20 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 151 yards and one TD on 12 carries. Superback Ryan Leafey (jr. Westville, NJ/Deptford) carried the ball 19 times for 159 yards. Superback Stephen Hevalow (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) added 41 yards and a touchdown on nine touches. Wide receiver Marcus Lee (jr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) made five catches for 42 yards and one TD. Tight end Derek Piccini (jr. Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield Mem.) had four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. Kicker Mark Getsinger (fr. Deptford, NJ/Deptford) was two for two on field goal attempts.

Linebacker Drew Yezzi (jr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and safety Jimmy DiPaolo (sr. N. Plainfield, NJ/N. Plainfield) both made seven tackles. Yezzi also had one interception and a tackle for a loss (-1 yard). Defensive end Matt Hoffman (so. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) forced a fumble and defensive end Kyle Kane (Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) recovered one. Cornerback Malcolm Dock (jr. Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) recorded a 53 yard interception return for a touchdown.

For the Lions, running back Chase Misiura (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) ran for 58 yards on 19 rushes. He also made four grabs for 35 yards. Quarterback Chris James (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) had eight completion in 24 attempts for 54 yards. Kicker Marc Zucconi (jr. Marlton, NJ/Holy Cross) made a 49 yard field goal.

Defensive back Ryan Flannery (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) posted a game-high 11 tackles. Defensive backs Phil Gatti (fr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) and Shawn Brown (fr. Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) followed with 10 stops apiece. Defensive lineman Marc Fabiano (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) contributed with seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss (-7 yards) and one forced fumble.

At 10:48 in the first quarter, Wilczynski threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Lee to give the Profs a 7-0 advantage. In the second period, Getsinger made a 21 yard field at 12:57. Wilcyznski had a nine yard run at 8:13. On TCNJ’s next possession, Dock intercepted James’ pass and returned it 53 yards to put Rowan up 24-0. The Lions got on the scoreboard with a 49 yard field goal by Zucconi as time expired to make the score, 24-3 at the intermission.

Getsinger connected on a 30 yard field goal at 4:38 in the third quarter. Piccini added a four yard touchdown reception at 11:47 in the fourth. Hevalow’s one yard touchdown carry with 7:27 left to play ended the scoring.
