GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Ashely Hackman scored the game-winning goal at 82:19 to lead Eastern University to a 1-0 victory over Wheaton College (MA) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Saturday.

Eastern (15-5) advances to the second round on Sunday, November 16 at 1 p.m. The Eagles will face the winner of Saturday’s first round game between Rowan University and Oneonta State. Wheaton finishes the season with a 16-6-2 record.

Hackman’s (sr. Perkasie, PA/Christopher Dock) goal came of a feed from forward Tess Beckwith (fr. Upper Montclair, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic). Beckwith centered the ball into box and Hackman kicked it passed the goalkeeper.

Eastern out shot Wheaton, 15-7. Goalkeeper Amanda Daveler (sr. Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made four saves for the shutout. Goalie Lindsay Leddy (sr. Warwick, RI/Wheeler School) stopped eight shots for the Lyons.
