POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams both took second place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday. The championships were held at Richard Stockton College.
Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) was the first Prof runner to cross the finish line for the men. Kuczynski finished eighth overall with a time of 26:22.80 on the 8K course. Kunal Sharma (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) came in 12th (26:35.15) followed by Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) and Brian Quilty (so. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) who were 13th (26:39.62) and 14th (26:43.64) respectively. Also scoring was Eric DuBois (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A. P. Schalick) in 16th place with a time of 26:45.87.
The Rowan women were led by Jena Peacock (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) who took third. Peacock had a time of 22:31.54 over the 6K course. Danielle Czohla (fr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) came in ninth (24:00.10) and Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was 11th (24:04.61). Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) took 13th place (24:12.94) and Angela Patane (sr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) followed 14th (24:17.97).
The Rowan cross country teams will compete in two weeks at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional. The regional will be held at St. Lawrence University (NY) on Saturday, November 15 at 11 a.m.
