Rowan Defeats NJAC Opponent Ramapo, 3-1 On The Road

MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated conference opponent Ramapo College, 3-1 on Saturday.

The Profs had goals from midfielder Nina Fragoso (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and forwards Michelle Carrocino (so. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Jess Babice (so. Groveville, NJ/Steinert). Rowan has an 8-0-1 record and a 3-0-1 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Ramapo drops to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Rowan led 2-0 after the first half. Fragoso scored the first goal unassisted (33:10) and Carrocino had the second on a penalty kick (43:56). Babice found the net for the third goal at 56:52. Back Erica Kunzig (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) spoiled the shutout with 37 seconds left in the game.

The Profs totaled 20 shots while the Roadrunners took three. Rowan goalie Sarah Volkomer (jr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) made two saves. In the Ramapo net, goalies Jessica DaRold (jr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) and Alyssa Krall (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) each played a half and stopped three and four shots respectively

Next week, Rowan plays at William Paterson University on Saturday, October 11 at 6 p.m. The game was rescheduled from Saturday, September 27.
