GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Eastern University, 3-2 in a nonconference game on Saturday.

Rowan improves to 7-2, while Eastern has a 6-5 record. The Profs are ranked ninth in this week’s STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Coaches Poll.

Forward Amanda Greene (sr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester) knocked in a pass from forward Lauren Ross (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) 53 seconds into the game to give Rowan a 1-0 advantage. Eastern forward Elya Troup (jr. Richfield, PA/Midd-West) tied the game with a goal at 9:08. Forward Olivia Derr (jr. Myerstown, PA/ELCO) picked up the assist. Profs’ forward Kiley Graham (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Shawnee) had an unassisted goal at 19:32 to make the score 2-1 at the intermission.

In the second period, Rowan midfielder Janna Tighe (so. Thorofare, NJ/Gateway Reg.) found the back of cage at 61:53 to put the Profs up 3-1. The Eagles added a goal by midfielder Kristin Brownett (fr. West Chester, PA/Unionville) with 26 seconds left to play. Midfielders Lindsay Moyer (jr. Telford, PA/Christopher Dock) and Sarah Garber (fr. Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) both assisted on the goal.

Rowan out shot Eastern, 28-10. Goalie Lisa Apt (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) made three saves for the Profs. Eagles’ goalie Laura Ressler (so. Media, PA/Delaware County Christian) stopped 17 shots.

Rowan travels to Widener University on Wednesday, October 8 at 4 p.m.
