CHESTER, PA – The Widener University women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a nonconference match on Thursday.

Widener improves to 23-7, while Rowan has a 12-16 record. The Pride won with set scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-20.

Middle hitter Devan Green (jr. Monroe Center, IL/Stillman Valley) led the way with 12 kills and three blocks. Outside hitter Danielle Wetling (jr. Upper Darby, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) compiled 10 kills and two blocks. Setter Jamie Ballew (fr. Media, PA/Penncrest) tallied 38 assists and four service aces. Middle hitter Meghan Fitzsimmons (sr. Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) totaled 18 digs and defensive specialist Julieanne Gryn (jr. Springfield, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) had 17. Right side Ashley Varallo (sr. Havertown, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) contributed with 11 digs.

For Rowan, outside hitter Karen Ramirez (jr. Bogota, NJ/Bogota) accumulated 11 kills and 11 digs. Outside hitter Alexis Louie (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) added 10 kills and 11 digs, while setter Chrissy McKay (jr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) registered 29 assists and 11 digs. Libero Casey Roselle (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) had a team-high 17 digs.

Rowan hosts Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Tuesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.
