WASHINGTON, DC – Forward Amanda Greene scored the game-winner in overtime to give Rowan University a 3-2 victory over Catholic University on Thursday.
Rowan, ranked 11th in the nation, improves to 10-3. Catholic has a 9-5 record. Greene’s (sr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester) unassisted goal six minutes into the first overtime game the Profs the win. It was her 16th goal of the season.
Catholic was ahead 1-0 at the half following a goal by forward Meredith Chandler (so. Tiburon, CA/St. Ignatius). The Cardinals went up 2-0 after midfielder Ro Dixon (sr. Ardmore, PA/Country Day Sacred Heart) scored on a penalty corner at 43:02 in the second period. Forward Tory Gagliardi (so. Pilesgrove, NJ/Archmere) picked up the assist. Greene knocked in a pass from midfielder Jenna Lombardo (jr. Barnegat, NJ/Southern Reg.) at 50:19. Back Kim Brozosky (sr. Richwood, NJ/Clearview Reg.) hit the back of the cage off a feed by forward Kiley Graham (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Shawnee) at 53:46 to send the game into overtime.
Rowan took 17 shots, while Catholic had 13. Goalie Lisa Apt (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) made seven saves for the Profs. Goalie Marian Cassilly (jr. Gambrills, MD/Archbishop Spalding) stopped 10 shots in the Cardinals’ cage.
