GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Michelle Carrocino scored three goals to lead Rowan University over St. Joseph’s College (LI), 5-0 on Tuesday evening.
The Profs also had one goal from midfielder Veronica Rhea (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) and back Leah Carney (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.). Midfielder Nina Fragoso (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) contributed with two assists and midfielder Emilie Wilson (sr. Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) had one.
Rowan has a 12-0-1 record while St. Joseph’s College is 10-7 overall. This week, the Profs are ranked third in the Middle Atlantic Region and 14th in the nation.
Rhea started the scoring at 16:29 with a shot just outside the box that went into the lower right corner of the net. Carrocino knocked in a corner kick by Fragoso at 62:40. Five minutes later, Carney headed in Fragoso’s corner kick. At 79:45, Carrocino scored on a corner kick. With 46 seconds left, Carrocino had her third goal on a cross from Wilson.
Carrocino has 16 goals on the season. On Monday, she was named this week’s New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Rowan out shot St. Joseph’s, 24-2. Goalie Sarah Volkomer (jr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) recorded her sixth shutout of the year. For the Golden Eagles, goalie Dana Carney (jr. Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) made three saves.
Rowan hosts conference opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, October 25 at 1 p.m.
