Rowan Defeats NJAC Opponent Rutgers-Newark, 3-0

NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University volleyball team defeated host Rutgers-Newark, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Tuesday evening.

Rowan won with set scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-21. The Profs are 12-15 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raiders have a 2-22 record with a 1-6 conference mark.

Middle blocker Theresa Pecoraro (sr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) paced Rowan with eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage. Pecoraro also had four service aces and four digs. Outside hitter Alexis Louie (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) contributed with eight kills. Setter Chrissy McKay (jr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) totaled 15 assists and eight digs.

Middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (jr. Penns Grove, NJ/Salem County Christian Academy) added six kills. Bowman had a .312 hitting percentage. Defensive specialist Samantha Labriola (jr. Wallington, NJ/Wallington) and libero Casey Roselle (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) registered nine and eight digs respectively.

For Rutgers-Newark, outside hitter Rose Anna Beljour (jr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) compiled five kills, seven digs and one ace. Outside hitter Toni Moppert (fr. Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) contributed with four kills, eight digs and one ace. Setter Christina Franciso (jr. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) tallied 10 assists and eight digs.

Rowan is on the road at Widener University on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
