GLASSBORO, NJ – Five players scored in double figures to lead Richard Stockton College to an 86-58 win over Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.

Richard Stockton improves to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Rowan has a 9-3 overall record and a 0-2 NJAC mark. The Ospreys were led by forward Jerome Hubbard (jr. Neptune, NJ/Neptune) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Guard Mario Lancioni (sr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) followed with 16 points, eight assists and four steals. Guard Fran Kelly (sr. Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) and Kevin Brown (so. Neptune, NJ/Neptune) added 12 points apiece, while forward Omar Smith (so. Newark, NJ/Central) had 11. Forward Jon Greene (sr. Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood) grabbed a game-high nine boards.

For Rowan, guard Michael Farrow (fr. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) totaled 17 points and six rebounds. Guard Aaron Spellman (jr. Pine Hill, NJ/St. Joseph’s (Hammonton)) contributed with nine points and five boards. Forward Rahim Shiver (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) pulled down six rebounds.

Richard Stockton opened the game with a 17-2 run over the first 9:33. Hubbard recorded eight points in the stretch. Spellman made two free throws at 8:58 to cut the deficit to nine (17-8). Hubbard’s three-pointer at 8:28 gave the Ospreys a 20-8 advantage. Rowan scored the next eight points to trail by four (20-16) at 6:15. Farrow had six of the eight points. Brown’s layup with 2:46 left put Richard Stockton up 28-20. Profs’ guard Kevin Darby (jr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton) had a layup with 1:18 remaining to make the score 28-22 at the intermission. Hubbard had 11 points in the first half, while Farrow was Rowan’s leading scorer with eight.

The Ospreys began the second half with a 13-2 stretch to lead 41-24 at 17:30. Forward Chad Davis (jr. Millville, NJ/Sacred Heart) had five points, Hubbard and Lancioni had three apiece and Greene added two points. Rowan came within 11 points (50-39) at the 12 minute mark. It was the closest the Profs would come for the remainder of the game. Richard Stockton had its largest lead, 32 points (86-54) following a layup by Brown with 54 seconds left to play.

Rowan travels to Rutgers-Newark for a NJAC game on Saturday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m.
