GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team won 93-50 over visiting College of Notre Dame (MD) on Saturday afternoon.

The Profs have a 7-4 record while the Gators drop to 3-6 on the season. Rowan had three players that scored in double figures. Forward Jessica Nimbley (so. Middletown, NJ/St. John Vianney) totaled 15 points and seven rebounds. Forward Ashley Cieplicki (jr. Haworth, NJ/Dumont) contributed with 13 points while guard Michelle Lala (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) added 11. Guard Kristina Wallace (sr. Logan Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) recorded eight assists and six steals.

For Notre Dame, guard Briana Grap (fr. Perry Hall, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) came off the bench and scored 13 points. Forward Kendra Baldwin (jr. Woodlawn, MD/Woodlawn) and guard Sasha Matthew (fr. Belcamp, MD/Joppatowne) each compiled 11 points. Baldwin and guard Faith Wassink (sr. Great Mills, MD/Great Mills) grabbed eight and seven rebounds respectively.

In the first half, Rowan was ahead by 11 points (19-8) at 12:39. Baldwin’s layup at 12:06 cut the deficit to seven points (19-12). It was the closest the Gators came for the remainder of the game. The Profs had eight straight points to lead 27-12 with 8:39 remaining. At 3:45, Lala made a basket for a 20 point advantage (40-20). Rowan was up 42-24 at the intermission. Wallace led the Profs with nine points while Nimbley and Lala had seven apiece. Baldwin scored eight points for the Gators.

The Profs jumped out to a 27 point advantage (51-24) in the first 3:08 of the final period. Nimbley contributed with four points, Cieplicki followed with three and guard Brynn DeGroff (jr. Wildwood Crest, NJ/Wildwood) had two. Rowan’s biggest lead of the contest was 44 points (93-49) after a layup by forward Jamie Toy (jr. Alloway, NJ/Woodstown) with 1:38 remaining.

Rowan returns to its conference schedule on Wednesday, January 9 at home against Richard Stockton at 6 p.m.
