BALTIMORE, MD – The Rowan University men and women’s swim teams lost to host Johns Hopkins University on Saturday. The Johns Hopkins men’s team won 159-95 while the women had a 137-118 victory.

Both the Blue Jay men and women’s teams are 4-2 on the season. The Rowan men and women each have a 4-2 record.

For the Prof men, Kevin Baker (sr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury) had a winning time of 2:01.53 in the 200 individual medley. Baker also took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.87. In the 1,650 freestyle, James Sheerin (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) finished second (17:59.45) followed by Cliff Melder (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) third (19:07.87). Kevin Wallace (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) took third place in the 100 butterfly (54.52) and the 100 backstroke (58.01).

Chris Mahoney (fr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) came in third in the 50 breaststroke (29.02). Jimmy Smith (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Matt Bocian (so. Berkley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) were third (22.85) and fourth (23.96) respectively in the 50 freestyle. David Shinton (sr. Newark, DE/Newark) had a third place in the 500 free (5:09.01).

The Rowan women won the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.73) and they were second in the 200 medley relay (1:57.24). The freestyle relay included Janina Wojick (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), Christine DiRubbo (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), Aileen Milde (sr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) and Alicia Mackleer (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest). Stephanie McAllister (so. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), DiRubbo, Wojick and Mackleer were on the medley relay.

Wojick took first in two individual events. She won the 50 freestyle (25.78) and the 50 butterfly (28.39). Samantha Edwards (fr. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) was the winner in the 1,650 freestyle (18:06.66) and she was second in the 500 free (5:20.37). Mackleer took second in the 50 backstroke (30.09). In the 50 breaststroke, Meghan McCourt (so. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Ashley Gagnon (so. S. Amboy, NJ/Middlesex County Academy) came in second (34.12) and third (34.62) respectively. Stacey Rahter (fr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) had a second place in the 100 butterfly (1:03.69).

Samantha King (so. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.43) followed by McCourt third (1:13.87). DiRubbo took third in the 100 free (56.88). In the 100 backstroke, Katherine Winters (fr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) and McAllister finished third (1:05.27) and fourth (1:05.53) respectively.

Next week, Rowan travels to Gettysburg College on Saturday, January 19 for a 1 p.m. meet.
