GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Jay Vigilante scored two goals to lead the Rowan University men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Lincoln University on Saturday.
Back Jason Dugan (so. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) got the Profs on the scoreboard when he put back a shot at 18:48. Vigilante found the net on a direct kick at 56:07 to give Rowan a 2-0 advantage. At 78:22, Vigilante added an insurance goal that was assisted by midfielder Justin List (sr. Pedricktown, NJ/Penns Grove) and forward Tom Gannon (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan).
Rowan outshot Lincoln, 15-8. Goalkeeper Kevin Nuss (sr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) started in net for the Profs and made one save. Charles Cunliffe (fr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) played the final 27:19. For the Lions, John Sheyi Oluwole (jr. Lagos, Nigeria/Immaculate Heart) turned away five shots in 68 minutes, while Andre Wilkinson (fr. St. Michael, Barbados/William E. Grady) made two saves in 22 minutes.
The Profs improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Lions have a 1-2 record. Rowan hosts St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m.
