Scranton Tops Rowan, 4-3 in 2OT

SCRANTON, PA – Forward Tim Logan scored the winning goal in overtime for the University of Scranton in a 4-3 victory over Rowan University on Wednesday night.
 
Logan knocked in the game winner at 2:39 in the second overtime period. It was Logan’s second goal of the game. After trailing 2-1 at the half, midfielder Sebastian Akerman tied it for the Royals at 54:50 with a shot from 21 yards out. Scranton went ahead on Logan’s header off a direct kick by back Gary Racich.
 
Rowan midfielder Michael Pascale (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) made it 3-3 when he hit the net with 4:26 left in regulation.  In the first half, the Profs got on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal by forward Jay Vigilante (jr. Manasquan, NJ/Wall) at 18:33.  Pascale put Rowan up 2-0 (27:28) with an assist from forward Matt Flynn (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.).
 
Scranton totaled 26 shots and Rowan took 16. Royal goalie Brandon Dombrowski made three saves. In the Profs’ net, Charles Cunliffe (fr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) and Kevin Nuss (sr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) had seven and three saves respectively.
 
Rowan is back at home against Lincoln University on Saturday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m.
