GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Amanda Kurdyla scored the winning goal for William Paterson University in a 1-0 conference victory over host Rowan University on Saturday afternoon.
Kurdyla recorded the game winner at 35:47 when she hit the net on a serve from midfielder Aly Ruddy (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley). It was Kurdyla’s 11th goal on the season. She leads the team in scoring with 23 points.
William Paterson improves to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The Pioneers ended the Profs’ eight game win streak. Rowan is 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
William Paterson and Rowan each took eight shots. Goalie Caitlin Kiernan (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) started the game for the Pioneers. Kiernan played 27 minutes and had one save. Meaghan Baker (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) took over in goal for Kiernan who left the game because of an injury. For Rowan, goalie Sarah Volkomer (so. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) stopped three shots.
Next week, Rowan travels to SUNY Purchase on Thursday, October 4 for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game.
