Field Hockey Defeats Wesley, 4-0

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team had a 4-0 victory over Wesley College in a non-conference game on Saturday.

Rowan improves to 5-3 overall and is ranked 12th in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Coaches Poll. Wesley has a 6-2 record.

The Profs were led by forward Amanda Greene (jr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester City) and midfielder Susan Massara (sr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) with one goal and two assists apiece. Forwards Danielle Miranda (sr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) and Rachel Cheafsky (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) each scored once.

Greene put Rowan up 1-0 at 5:38 off a pass from Massara. Cheafsky deflected Greene’s shot into the cage on a penalty corner at 8:00 for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Miranda had a one timer at 37:40 and Massara had an unassisted goal at 68:49.

The Profs out shot the Wolverines, 14-2. Rowan goalie Amanda Cucinotti (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made two saves. Goalie LeAnne Hyslop (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) turned away seven shots for the Wolverines.

Rowan travels to The College of New Jersey for a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest on Tuesday, October 2 at 7 p.m.
