Cross Country Competes at the Don Cathcart Invitational

SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday. The Prof men finished in fifth place out of 13 schools while the women took seventh among 12 institutions. The invitational was held at Winter Place Park and hosted by Salisbury University.

Rowan’s Mike Rivera (jr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) finished 10th overall with a time of 26:00 over the 8,000 meters course. Andrew Vasta (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) crossed the finish line 53 seconds later and was 28th. Greg Kuczynski (jr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) came in 36th place (27:05). Also scoring were Dan Ratty (jr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) 45th (27:20) and Eric Thomas (jr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) 50th (27:24).

For the women, Katelyn Sammon (sr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) finished 34th overall. She completed the 6,000 meters in 24:09. Angela Patane (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Kerry O’Donnell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took 42nd (24:26) and 43rd (24:27) place respectively. Liz Guarini (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 45th (24:37) and and Allison Catenacci (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) came in 54th (25:01).

Next week, Rowan travels to Maryland on Saturday, October 6 for the Goucher Classic at 10:30 a.m.
