GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team shut out Richard Stockton College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.
Forward Dana Ross (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) chipped in a cross from forward Jenna Balestriere (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) at 66:28. Eight minutes later, midfielder Emilie Wilson (jr Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) headed in a free kick by forward Michelle Carrocino (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.). Ross now has five goals on the season while Wilson has three.
Rowan goalie Sarah Volkomer (so. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) recorded her first shutout, making six saves. Stockton goalkeeper Alex Rogers (jr. Medford, NJ/Medford) stopped four shots.
This week, the Profs (8-1, NJAC 3-0) are ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Middle Atlantic Region while the Ospreys (7-2-1, NJAC 1-1-1) are fourth.
Rowan’s next game is at home against William Paterson University on Saturday, September 29 at 1 p.m.
