GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University and Richard Stockton College played to a 2-2 tie in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.
Rowan has a 4-4-1 overall record and a 0-3-1 NJAC mark. Richard Stockton is 5-3-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference.
Rowan got on the scoreboard first at 39:56 when midfielder Peter Malkmus (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) knocked in a cross from forward Daniel Coviello (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley). Midfielder Pat Tolomeo (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) headed in a corner from midfielder Eric Lewis (sr. Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) at 41:50 to tie the game.
Forward Rafael Duarte’s (fr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) goal at 84:55 gave the Ospreys a 2-1 advantage. Midfielder A.J. Colubiale (sr. Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) picked up the assist. With 3:56 remaining, Coviello put back a rebound off of a shot by forward Tom Gannon (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) to send the game into overtime. Neither team scored after two sudden victory periods.
Richard Stockton out shot Rowan, 33-11. Goalkeeper Kevin Nuss (sr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made 18 saves for the Profs. Goalie Tim McKenna (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) turned away seven shots in the Ospreys’ net.
Rowan travels to William Paterson University for a NJAC contest on Saturday, September 29 at 5 p.m. Richard Stockton hosts New Jersey City University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
