Men's Cross Country Takes 14th at NYU Invitational

BRONX, NY – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the New York University Invitational on Saturday. The men finished 14th overall in the regional preview race out of 25 schools. In the women’s invite open, Rowan took 10th place among 22 institutions.

All four races, the men’s and women’s regional previews and the men’s and women’s invite opens, were held at Van Cortlandt Park.

Mike Rivera (jr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) was the Profs’ top runner. Rivera finished 49th overall with a time of 26:44 over the 8,000 meter course. Andrew Vasta (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and Eric Thomas (jr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) were 91st (27:28) and 96th (27:29) respectively. Phil Dunn (sr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) came in 110th (27:42) and Dan Ratty (jr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) was 131st (28:07).

Angela Patane (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) was the women’s first runner to cross the finish line. Patane took 53rd place (21:33) in the 5,000 meter race. Katelyn Sammon (sr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) came in 60th (21:40) followed by Liz Guarini (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) 61st (21:41) and Kerry O’Donnell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) 62nd (21:42). Allison Catenacci (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) completed the scoring, 75th (22:01).

Rowan has an open date next weekend. The Profs return to action on Saturday, September 29 at the Don Cathcart Invitational (Salisbury, MD) at 10 a.m.
