PHILADELPHIA, PA – Seven different players scored for the Rowan University women’s soccer team in an 8-0 victory over Chestnut Hill College on Thursday.

 

The Profs were led by forward Kerry Little (sr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) with two goals. Midfielder Devon Marx (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added one goal and two assists, while forward Dana Ross (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) had one goal and one assist. Midfielders Holly Bundy (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) and Danielle Barbato (jr. Wenonah, NJ/Gateway Reg.), back Ashley Burgess (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) and forward Michelle Carrocino (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) scored one goal apiece. Back Ashley Schaffer (so. Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and forward Jenna Balestriere (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) each recorded two assists and forward Samantha Becker (sr. Clementon, NJ/Highland Reg.) had one.

 

Rowan outshot Chestnut Hill, 58-0. Goalkeepers Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Sarah Volkomer (so. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) each played one half for the Profs. Kelly Evans (jr. Harriman, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) made 22 saves in the Griffins’ net.

 

Little put Rowan ahead 2-0 with goals at 9:39 and 11:18. Balestriere picked up both assists. Marx and Ross found the net at 33:34 and 37:59 respectively to give the Profs a 4-0 halftime lead.  At 68:21, Burgess knocked in a pass from Marx and Bundy followed with a goal at 73:26. Carrocino scored on a feed from Schaffer with 15 minutes remaining to give Rowan a 7-0 advantage. Rowan’s final goal came at 87:06 when Barbato put back a pass from Becker.

 

The Profs improve to 4-1, while the Griffins have a 0-5 record. Rowan begins New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play at Montclair State University on Saturday, September 15 at 2 p.m.
