RADNOR, PA – The Rowan University women’s soccer team blanked King’s College, 7-0 in the second round of the Cabrini College Invitational on Saturday.
Forward Michelle Carrocino (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) led Rowan with three goals. Forwards Dana Ross (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran), Jenna Balestriere (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains) and Megan Bry (so. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and midfielder Kaeleigh Brock (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) had one goal apiece.
Rowan recorded 31 total shots while King’s only had one. Goalie Melissa Hall (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) started in the Profs’ net and made one save. Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) was in goal the final 23 minutes. For King’s, goalies Rachel Donatiello and Michele Matera combined for 10 saves.
The Profs had a 4-0 lead after the first half. Ross put Rowan on the scoreboard at 3:47. The second goal came at 20:20 and was scored by Bry. Carrocino followed with two straight scores at 26:45 and 40:16.
In the final half, Balestriere hit the back of the net for the fifth goal (56:04) while Brock’s goal was the sixth (61:48). Carrocino wrapped up the scoring at 73:01 and midfielder Holly Bundy (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) had an assist.
Salisbury clinched the invitational title with a 5-1 victory over Cabrini. In the opening round on Friday, Salisbury University won 4-1 over Rowan and Cabrini defeated King’s, 2-1 in overtime.
Rowan has its home opener on Friday, September 7 against Centenary College at 6 p.m.
