RADNOR, PA – The Salisbury University women’s soccer team won 4-1 over Rowan University in the first round of the Cabrini College Invitational on Friday. It was the season opener for both teams.
In the second round on Saturday, Salisbury meets host Cabrini at noon while Rowan plays King’s College (PA) at 2:30 p.m.
The Sea Gulls were led by midfielder Robyn Bishop with two goals while back Alicia Kavlunas (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) had the Profs’ lone goal.
Salisbury was ahead 3-0 after the first half. Forward Kate Weaver started the scoring at 13:19.
Bishop picked up her first goal at 16:20 with a feed from midfielder Sarah Koenig. Forward Erin Casey had the third score assisted by midfielder Christina Eury at 34:24.
In the second half, Bishop put Salisbury up 4-0 at 53:33 and Weaver assisted. Kavlunas spoiled the shutout at 76:42.
The Sea Gulls and the Profs totaled eight shots apiece. Salisbury goalie Gena Goodson stopped five shots in the first half and Kristin Greene made two saves in the second. Melissa Hall (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) played the entire game in the Rowan net.
