Rowan Competes At The NYC Qualifying Challenge

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men and women’s track and field teams had six athletes that competed at the NYC Qualifying Challenge on Sunday. The invitational was held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York. 
 
Aaron Braxton (so. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) won the discus with a throw of 165’ (50.30 meters). Braxton also had a third place in the shot put with 50’ 1.75” (15.28 meters). Anthony Witter (jr. Millville, NJ/Bridgeton) finished fifth in the discus with 145’ 10” (44.46 meters).
 
Chereyse Hepburn (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Oakcrest) took second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.28. Eileen Batten (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had a fourth place in the javelin with a toss of 109’ 4.5” (33.35 meters).
 
In the javelin championship, Sean Biehn (fr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) came in second (185’ 5.5”, 56.53 meters) while Sean Corey (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) was fourth (177’ 11”, 54.23 meters).
 
Rowan will compete next at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 14 at 4 p.m.
