Rowan Wins Conference Game, 4-3 At Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, NJ – First baseman Rob Ritterson doubled in the winning run for Rowan University in a 4-3 conference victory at Rutgers-Camden on Thursday.
 
Rowan trailed 3-2 going into the ninth inning. With two outs, Ritterson’s (jr. Sewell, NJ/George Washington (PA)) double to left field scored the tying and winning runs. Left fielder Frank Hasenauer (jr. Iselin, NJ/John F. Kennedy) led off the inning with a single to center field and he tied the game while pinch runner Keith Evans (fr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) scoring the winning run. 
 
Ritterson finished the game with two hits (three at bats) and three RBIs. Center fielder Roger Turley (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) went two for four with a double, one RBI and one run scored. Hasenauer added two hits (four at bats) and scored one run. Left hander Joe Cichy (jr. Vineland, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) pitched a complete game and had nine strikeouts. He (6-3) only gave up three hits and one earned run.
 
Rowan is 19-14 overall and 8-7 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Rutgers-Camden has a 14-21 record with a 2-13 NJAC mark. For the Scarlet Raptors, designated hitter Vince Giunta (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) had a solo home run.
 
The Profs went up 1-0 in the first inning on Ritterson’s RBI single, scoring Turley who reached base with a double. Giunta homered in the third to tie the score. In the fifth, Turley put Rowan back on top with a single that scored shortstop Tim Barnshaw (so. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick). Rutgers-Camden went ahead 3-2 in the sixth. Center fielder Nate Buchter (sr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) and second baseman Dean Straga (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) scored on an error.  
 
Rowan is back at home on Friday, April 27 against Richard Stockton College at 3:30 p.m.
