HAVERFORD, PA – Right fielder Tim Edmeads hit three home runs to lead Rowan University to a 22-9 win over host Haverford College on Tuesday.
Edmeads (sr. Newfield, NJ/Buena Reg.) finished the game with four hits (six at bats), seven RBIs and three runs scored. Rowan has won six straight games and has an 18-14 record, while Haverford is 18-12. Right hander Robert Rose (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) threw five innings for his fourth victory of the season. Pitcher Adam Lewis (fr. Nicasio, CA/Marin Academy) took the loss for the Fords.
The Profs totaled 26 hits. Third baseman Tom Ready (so. Blenheim, NJ/Triton Reg.) was five for five with three runs scored, two doubles and one RBI. First baseman Shawn Counard (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) had four hits in five trips to the plate, three runs scored, three RBIs and a home run. Center fielder Keith Evans (fr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) went four for five with four runs scored and one RBI. Left fielder Roger Turley (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) added four hits in seven at bats, three runs scored, two RBIs, a double and a triple. Designated hitter Paul Urbanovich (jr. Rutherford, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) recorded one hit (two at bats), two runs scored, two RBIs and a double. Second baseman Roland Rodriguez (fr. Miami, FL/Miami Killian) chipped in with two hits in five plate appearances, two RBIs, one run scored and a double.
For Haverford, designated hitter Ben Einbinder (sr. Tempe, AZ/Coronado) was two for four with three RBIs, two runs scored and two home runs. Catcher Kenny McAlpine (sr. Tallahassee, FL/Leon High) went one for four with one run, one RBI and a double. Center fielder Dean Laganosky (so. Wilmington, DE/Salesianum School) had two hits (four at bats), one RBI and a double. Second baseman Jake Kaden (fr. Potomac, MD/Landon School) contributed with one hit (three at bats), two runs scored, two RBIs and a home run.
Rowan scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Ready singled in Turley, who led off with a double, and Urbanovich’s double scored Ready. Haverford took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second. The Profs added six runs in the third inning. Edmeads hit a three run homer and Ready scored on an error. Counard followed with a RBI single and shortstop Tim Barnshaw’s (so. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) sacrifice fly plated catcher Dan Krause (jr. Northfield,NJ/Mainland Reg.). Evans scored on Urbanovich’s sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to put Rowan up 9-3.
In the fifth inning, Turley’s single brought Counard home. Haverford got four runs in the bottom half to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Profs added nine runs in the top of the sixth inning to go ahead 19-7. Counard and Evans both had a RBI single while Rodriguez and Reibis each hit a two run double. Turley tripled in a run and Edmeads hit a two run homer. Counard hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. The Fords scored one run in the bottom of the inning.
In the eighth, Edmeads hit his third home run of the game, a two run shot. Haverford scored its final run in the bottom of the eighth.
