Rowan Wins 7-4 At NJAC Opponent Richard Stockton

POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team won 7-4 at New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent Richard Stockton College on Friday. 

 
Left hander Joe Cichy (jr. Vineland, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) pitched eight innings for his fifth victory on the season. Tyler Dempsey (sr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) earned his fourth save. 
 
Catcher Bobby Fox (jr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) led the Profs with two hits (four at bats), two RBIs and one run scored. Center fielder Roger Turley (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) went two for four with a double and scored one run. Designated hitter Paul Urbanovich (jr. Rutherford, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) and right fielder Tim Edmeads (sr. Newfield, NJ/Buena Reg.) each contributed with two hits and one RBI. Left fielder Frank Hasenauer (jr. Iselin, NJ/John F. Kennedy) added two hits and two runs scored.
 
Rowan improves to 14-14 on the season and 4-7 in the conference. Richard Stockton is 18-10-1 overall with a 6-6-1 NJAC mark.
 
For Stockton, left fielder Mike Liquori (sr. Manahawkin, NJ/Carteret) went two for four with a home run, two RBIs and one run scored. Center fielder Chris Discher (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) had two hits in five trips to the plate. 
 
With the score tied at four after six innings, Rowan won the game with three runs in the seventh. Fox singled in the winning run that was scored by Hasenauer. Urbanovich crossed home plate on a balk. First baseman Rob Ritterson (jr. Sewell, NJ/George Washington (PA)) singled in Fox.
 
The Ospreys trailed 4-0 and came back to tie the score with two runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. In the fourth inning, Liquori had a two run homer. Designated hitter Eddie Ortiz (so. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) had a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Second baseman Brian Paras (sr. Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Twp.) had a sac bunt in the sixth, scoring the tying run. 
 
Rowan got on the scoreboard with three runs in the first inning. Edmeads drove in the first one with a single. Urbanovich walked with the bases loaded and Edmeads came home on a wild pitch. The Profs added one run in the third with a RBI single by Fox.
 
On Saturday, Rowan travels to Rutgers-Newark for a noon conference doubleheader.
