HOBOKEN, NJ – Midfielder Alyssa Pigott scored three goals to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 9-8 victory over visiting Rowan University on Wednesday.
 
The Ducks improve to 8-6, while the Profs have a 5-9 record. Attack Kate Lalli (fr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) added two goals, while attacks Kaitlyn Roes (jr. Stillwater, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and Dana Perriello (so. Pittsburgh, PA/Franklin Reg.) each scored once. Attack Liz Mather (jr. Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) contributed with one goal and two assists and midfielder Kara Borzillo (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) had one goal and one assist.
 
For Rowan, defender Shana Smeriglio (sr. Ocean, NJ/Ocean Twp.), attack Caitlin Meseroll (jr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) and midfielder Kelly Angstadt (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) each scored two goals. Attack Lauren Crennan (so. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and midfielder Therese Jones (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) added one goal apiece. Midfielder Alayna Morris (fr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) recorded two assists.
 
Stevens Tech outshot Rowan, 22-17. Goalie Stephanie Linder (jr. Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth Reg.) made eight saves for the Ducks. Profs’ goalie Alicia Mannino (so. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) stopped seven shots.
 
Stevens Tech took a 2-0 lead following goals by Borzillo (2:21) and Pigott (2:36). Rowan answered with four straight goals for a 4-2 advantage at 12:40. Meseroll scored twice and Crennan and Smeriglio added one goal apiece. Lalli’s goal at 17:22 made the score 4-3 at halftime.
 
The Ducks opened the second period with five goals to go ahead 8-4 with 10 minutes remaining. Roes, Mather, Perriello, Lalli and Pigott each had a goal in the stretch. Angstadt scored at 53:45 to cut the deficit to three (8-5). Pigott scored her third goal at 54:50. The Profs had goals from Angstadt (57:10), Jones (57:57) and Smeriglio (58:36), but the Ducks held on for the win.
 
Rowan travels to the University of Scranton on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m.
