Rowan Defeats Nonconference Albright, 8-6 On The Road

READING, PA – The Rowan University baseball team defeated nonconference opponent Albright College, 8-6 on the road.
 
The Profs have an overall record of 13-14 while the Lions are 11-15 on the season. Rowan was led by right fielder Tim Edmeads (sr. Newfield, NJ/Buena Reg.) and third baseman Tom Ready (so. Blenheim, NJ/Triton Reg.) each with two RBIs. Edmeads went two for three with one run scored. Center fielder Frank Hasenauer (jr. Iselin, NJ/John F. Kennedy) contributed with three hits (five at bats) and two runs scored. Second baseman Roland Rodriguez (fr. Miami, FL/Miami Killian) had two hits in two trips to the plate, one RBI and three runs scored.
 
Lefty Ryan Kulik (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) pitched seven innings for the win. Kulik (2-2) gave up four hits and recorded 11 strikeouts. Relievers Kevin O’Hara (so. Clayton, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Tyler Dempsey (sr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) were on the mound for one inning apiece.
 
For Albright, center fielder Chad Markey (jr. Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) went three for four with two RBIs. First baseman Jordan Boyer (jr. Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) added three hits (five at bats), two RBIs and one run scored. Shortstop Kyle Wenrich (jr. Reading, PA/Reading) had one hit and scored two runs. Left hander Joe Clark (fr. Warminster, PA/William Tennant) took the loss on the mound. 
 
Rowan got on the scoreboard with four runs in the first inning. Hasenauer came home on Rodriguez’s single for the first run. Rodriguez scored on an error and Edmeads crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice. First baseman Rob Ritterson (jr. Sewell, NJ/George Washington (PA)) had the RBI on the fourth run with a fielder’s choice. 
 
The Profs were ahead 7-0 after two runs in the second inning and one in the third. Edmeads had a RBI single and scored on Ready’s sacrifice fly in the second. Shortstop Tim Barnshaw (so. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) singled in the run in the third. Albright scored its first run on an error in the fourth inning.
 
In the sixth, Edmeads drove in Rodriguez with a single for the Profs’ final run. Albright rallied with three runs in the eighth inning and two in the ninth. 
 
Rowan’s next game is at home against Valley Forge Christian College on Thursday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m.
