GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men and women’s outdoor track and field teams hosted the Rowan University Open on Saturday.

Aaron Braxton (so. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) won the discus with a throw of 159’ 1” (48.5 meters). Braxton took second place in the shot put with 51’ 9.25” (15.78 meters). His throw was better than the NCAA provisional (15.55 meters). Tim Bowser (sr. Millville, NJ/Millville) had a first place finish in the high jump with 6’ 4.25” (1.94 meters). Sean Biehn (fr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) and Sean Corey (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) came in first and second in the javelin with 184’ 10.5” (56.35 meters) and 176’ 5” (53.78 meters) respectively. Nick Tyson (jr. Mt. Holly, NJ/Lenape) and Jack Bower (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied for first place in the pole vault with a height of 12’ 3.5” (3.75 meters) and Nehemiah Burney-Porter (fr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) won the triple jump with 43’ 3.25” (13.19 meters).
 
Erik Geisinger (sr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) took first place in the 1,500 meter run in 4:08.5. Joseph Minch (sr. Yardville, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) was first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.5. Andrew Vasta (so. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) won the 5,000 meter run in 15:49.2. The 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays both finished first in 44.2 and 3:27.6 respectively. The 4x100 relay was comprised of Bryan Pittman (sr. New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick), Bowser, John Barbadoro (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Clarence Days (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken). Bowser, Taylor Kirk (fr. Oceanport, NJ/Shore Reg.), Minch and Chima Nwosu (sr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) were on the 4x400 team.
 
Kevin Gauntt (fr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) was second in the 110 meter high hurdles (15.08) and 400 meter intermediate hurdles (1:02.7). Nwosu and Kirk came in second (50.72) and third (51.75) in the 400 meters. Pittman had a second place finish in the 100 meters (10.84).   Nwosu and Pittman were second and third in the 200 meters in 21.8 and 22.2 respectively.
 
For the women, Eileen Batten (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) won the javelin with a throw of    123’ 2” (37.54 meters). Dannielle Warren (so. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) had a first place finish in the long jump with 17’ 10.25” (5.44 meters). Michelle Lala (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) took first in the high jump (4’ 10.25”, 1.48 meters) and Lauren Blose (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Buena Reg.) was first in the pole vault (7’ 0”, 2.13 meters). Karen Johnson (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Ali Briggs (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) were second and third in the shot put with 35’ 10” (10.92 meters) and 35’ 4” (10.77 meters) respectively. Briggs also came in second in the discus with 97’ 9” (29.8 meters).
 
 
Warren won the 100 meter high hurdles (16.9) and was second in the 200 meters (27.1). Jessica Roy (fr. Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) took first place in the 100 meters in 13.0 and Jennifer Lippincott (fr. Magnolia, NJ/Gloucester) finished second in the 1,500 meter run in 5:31.0.

Rowan travels to the College Track Conference (CTC) Championships on Saturday-Sunday, April 21-22. The meet starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
