GLASSBORO, NJ – Attack Alexandra Ewing scored five goals and had one assist to lead Gettysburg College over host Rowan University, 16-6 on Friday.
Gettysburg is undefeated with a 2-0 record while Rowan is 1-2 on the season. In this week’s Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll, the Bullets are ranked second and the Profs are 17th.
Gettysburg also had two goals from attacks Hollis Stahl and Jen Betts and midfielders Katie Ceglarski, and Katie Hagan. Attack Jamie Giffuni and midfielder Megan Moore each contributed with one goal. Giffuni also totaled three assists while Betts had two.
Rowan was led by attack Katie Kline (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) with three goals. Midfielder Kelly Angstadt (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) followed with two goals and midfielder Kaitlyn Molzon (fr. Howell, NJ/St. Rose) had one.
The Bullets took 34 shots and the Profs had 16. For Gettysburg, goalie Kristen Krammer made 6 saves. In Rowan’s net, Katherine Rowland (sr. Freehold, NJ/St. John Vianney) stopped 11 shots.
In the first half, Kline scored the first goal of the game at the 33 second mark. Gettysburg answered with scores from Moore and Ewing at 1:56 and 9:17 respectively. The Profs’ second goal by Angstadt came at 12:04. The Bullets had a run of four straight goals to lead 6-2 with just under three minutes left in the period. Hagan, Betts, Ceglarski and Ewing each contributed with a goal. Gettysburg was ahead 6-3 at the intermission.
Hagan’s goal assisted by Giffuni put Gettysburg up 9-4 at 41:33. Rowan rallied with goals by Kline (42:15) and Molzon (43:27) to trail by three. The Bullets ended the game with seven straight scores in the last 15 minutes. Stahl and Ewing each scored twice while Giffuni, Betts and Ceglarski each had one goal.
On Wednesdsay, March 14, Rowan hosts Manhattanville College at 1 p.m.
