UNION, NJ – Attack Lauren Crennan and defender Shana Smeriglio each scored four goals in Rowan University’s 19-7 win on the road over Kean University.

Crennan (so. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and Smeriglio (sr. Ocean, NJ/Ocean Twp.) both had one assist. Attack Katie Kline (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) and midfielder Kelly Angstadt (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) contributed with three goals apiece. Midfielder Caitlin Meseroll (jr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) totaled two goals and two assists. Attack Carly Welsh (so. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) and defenders Laura Pringle (fr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) and Brittany Staley (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) each made one goal.

For Kean, Ashley Reynolds (fr. Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) recorded five goals while attack Stephanie Cirino (so. Warminster, PA/William Tennent) scored twice. Rowan took 38 shots and Kean had 24. In the Profs’ net, Katherine Rowland (sr. Freehold, NJ/St. John Vianney) played the first half and had five saves. Goalie Alicia Mannino (so. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) stopped five shots in the second period. The Cougars’ goalies, Lydia Pinto (sr. Clark, NJ/A.L. Johnson) and Jennifer Barry (fr. Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) compiled seven and five saves respectively.

Reynolds put the Cougars on the scoreboard first at 2:18. The Profs came back with seven straight goals in a six minute stretch. Angstadt, Smeriglio and Crennan each scored twice while Kline hit the net once. Reynolds had her second goal at 16:25 that made the score 8-3. The Profs ended the half with four more scores to lead 12-3. Welsh, Angstadt, Smeriglio and Kline all had one goal.

Kean had the first two goals of the second half by Cirino and Reynolds. Rowan answered with a run of five straight. Meseroll found the net two times while Smeriglio, Crennan and Kline each had a goal.

The Cougars are 2-3 on the season while the Profs have a 4-5 record. Rowan is back at home against second ranked The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 p.m.
