RADNOR, PA – Attack Katelyn Penrose scored three goals to lead Cabrini College over visiting Rowan University, 9-6 on Tuesday evening.
The Cavaliers had two goals from midfielder Emilie Greto and one apiece from midfielders Anna Scholl and Kerri Ricker, attack April Kaufmann and defender Katie Fanourgakis. Ricker also totaled three assists.
For Rowan, attack Caitlin Meseroll (jr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) and midfielder Alayna Morris (fr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) each scored twice. Both defender Maureen Doyle (sr. Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) and midfielder Kelly Angstadt (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had one goal. Attack Katie Kline (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) assisted on two scores while Angstadt and Morris had one assist.
Cabrini and Rowan took 15 shots apiece. The Cavaliers’ goalie Katie Schmid recorded eight saves. In the Profs’ net, Alicia Mannino (so. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) also stopped eight shots.
At the half, Cabrini was ahead 6-4. After nine minutes, the Cavaliers had a 2-1 lead. The Profs went up 4-2 with three straight scores in a four minute minute span. Doyle, Morris and Meseroll each had a goal. Cabrini came back with four unanswered goals to end the period. Penrose scored twice while Greto and Fanourgakis each had one. The Cavaliers started the final half with goals by Scholl and Kaufmann for an 8-4 advantage. The Profs pulled within two after Morris and Angstadt scored. Greto had the last goal of the game with 30 seconds remaining.
The Cavaliers are 3-1 on the season while Rowan has a 2-3 record. Rowan travels next to Washngton College (MD) on Thursday, March 22 for a 6 p.m. game.
