Wooster Hands Rowan Third Straight Loss, 7-5

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – The College of Wooster baseball team defeated Rowan University, 7-5 on Wednesday.

Wooster improves to 5-0, while Rowan has a 3-5 record. Pitcher Matt Barnes threw two innings in relief for his second victory of the year. He did not allow a run and struck out two batters. Reliever Tyler Dempsey (sr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) allowed one earned run in two innings for the loss.
 
Wooster scored four runs in the eighth inning and one in the ninth. The Scots had a big two run double by left fielder Jake Sankal in the eighth inning to tie the game (5-5) and he scored the go ahead run on an error. Shortstop John Quimby contributed with a home run in the ninth. For the Profs, catcher Dan Krause (jr. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) knocked in two runs with a single in the third inning. He finished the game with two hits (three at bats) and three RBIs. Third baseman Bruce Reibis (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) went two for three with one RBI and one run scored. 
 
Rowan faces Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday, March 15 at 9 a.m.
