PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – The SUNY Cortland baseball team defeated Rowan University, 11-1 on Sunday.

 

The Red Dragons totaled 10 hits and held the Profs to five. Cortland is undefeated with a 3-0 record while Rowan is 3-3 overall. 

 

Left hander George Jweid pitched 5.1 innings for his first win this season. Jweid (1-0) only allowed one earned run and struck out seven. Left hander Ryan Kulik (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had the loss. Kulik (0-1) gave up seven runs, four earned, and recorded 11 strikeuts.  

 

For Rowan, third baseman Bruce Reibis (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) went two for three. The Profs’ lone run came in the bottom of the third inning. Right fielder Tim Edmeads (sr. Newfield, NJ/Buena Reg.) singled in second baseman Joe Fraceschini (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.). 

 

On Monday, March 12, Rowan plays Rhode Island College at 5 p.m. on the campus of the University of Tampa.
