TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team took fourth place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Monday. The women’s indoor track team finished fifth overall. The NJAC Championships were held at the John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex.
Aaron Braxton (so. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) was the conference champion in the shot put. Braxton had a winning throw of 52’ 7.25” (16.03 meters). The throw was a NCAA provisional (51’ 0”, 55.54 meters). His best provisional this season was 54’ 7.5” (16.65 meters) which is third overall in Division III.
Dannielle Warren (so. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) won the 55 meter hurdles (8.91). Warren also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 16’ 9.75” (5.12 meters). Both results qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on March 2-3 at Wesleyan College (CT). In the shot put, Ali Briggs (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) was second with 36’ 3” (11.05 meters) and Karen Johnson (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) followed third with 36’ 0.75” (10.99 meters).
John Barbadoro (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) took second in the long jump with a distance of 21’ 2.5” (6.46 meters). In the 55 meter hurdles, Kevin Gauntt (fr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) finished second (8.08) followed by Nehemiah Burney-Porter (fr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) third (8.23). Joe Minch (sr. Yardville, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) had a third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.84. Andrew Vasta (so. Randolph, NJ/Randoph) was fourth in the 3,000 meters in 9:00.42.
Bryan Pittman (sr. New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick) came in fourth in the 55 meters (6.63) while Chima Nwosu (sr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) took fifth in the 400 meters (52.30). Nick Tyson (jr. Mt. Holly, NJ/Lenape) tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 12’ 7.5” (3.85 meters). Burney-Porter also finished fifth in the triple jump with 41’ 4.5” (12.61 meters). Anthony Witter (jr. Millville, NJ/Bridgeton) came in fifth in the shot put with 46’ 9.5” (14.26 meters).
The men’s 4x400 meter relay had a time of 3:31.16 that was good for third place. The relay team was Taylor Kirk (fr. Oceanport, NJ/Shore Reg.), Dan Collier (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), Minch and Nwosu. The 4x200 meter relay took fifth place in 1:36.48 with Kirk, Collier, Witter and Nwosu.
Lauren Blose (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Buena Reg.) was fifth in the pole vault with 7’ 0.5” (2.15 meters). Cheresye Hepburn (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Oakcrest) took fifth place in the 55 meter hurdles (9.10). Laura O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) was ninth in the one mile (6:12.83).
