SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University swim teams swept host Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon. The men won 125-80 while the women had a 104-101 victory.

The Prof men and women teams are both 4-1 on the season. The Rowan men took first place in the 200 medley (1:40.43) and the 200 freestyle (1:30.86) relays. Kevin Baker (sr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury), Sean Downey (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), Stephen Tucker (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart) and Dan Kelley (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) made up the medley relay. The free relay team consisted of Jimmy Smith (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), Matt Bocian (so. Berkley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston), James Sheerin (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) and Kevin Ovalle (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson).

The men won six of the individual events and Baker had two first places. He took first in the 200 individual medley (1:57.17) and the 100 breaststroke (58.79). Sheerin was the winner in the 100 butterfly (55.58). He also took second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:38.32). Kelley won the 200 freestyle (1:48.93) while Downey came in first in the 100 free (50.62). Ovalle swam a winning time of 22.52 in the 50 freestyle.

Jeremy Soto (so. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) had a second place in the 200 individual medley (2:04.08) and he finished third in the 100 backstroke (58.03). Kelley came in second in the 100 butterfly (55.86). Brian McDermott (fr. Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield Catholic) was second in the 100 backstroke (57.72). Tucker was third in the 50 free in 23.11 followed by Ryan McNally (fr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) fourth (23.12). Michael Brooks (fr. Brigantine, NJ/Holy Spirit) finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:52.27).

The Rowan women won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.04. The relay members were Aileen Milde (sr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury), Janina Wojick (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), Christine DiRubbo (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Alica Mackleer (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest). The 200 medley relay came in second (1:57.27) with Kate Winters (fr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Samantha King (so. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City), Stephanie McAllister (so. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Stacey Rahter (fr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.).

Samantha Edwards (fr. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) and King each took first place in two individual events. Edwards won the 1,000 (11:01.82) and 500 (5:14.43) freestyles. King was the winner in the 200 individual medley (2:17.08) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.85). Mackleer took first in the 50 free (25.54) and Winters came in first in the 100 backstroke (1:03.17). Winters also finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:01.89).

Rahter had a second place in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.76). Milde and McAllister took third in the 50 freestyle (25.96) and 200 individual medley (2:21.27) respectively. In the 100 backstroke, Mackleer was third (1:04.45) followed by McAllister fourth (1:04.68).
