Men's Soccer Beats Wilmington, 3-1

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s soccer team defeated Wilmington University, 3-1 in a non-conference game on Monday night.

With the win, the Profs improve to 7-5-1, while the Wildcats have a 9-4-1 record. Rowan jumped out to a 1-0 lead 51 seconds into the contest. Forward Dwayne Reevey (sr. Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) headed in a pass from midfielder Peter Malkmus (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.). Wilmington tied the game (1-1) at 31:17 when midfielder Wilson Barlee (fr. Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) put back a rebounded shot. Rowan forward Tom Gannon (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) had a direct kick that found the back of net at 64:29 putting the Profs ahead, 2-1. Midfielder Dan Arnold (so. Sicklerville, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) added an insurance goal at 79:56.

Wilmington took 14 shots and Rowan had 12. Goalkeepers Kevin Nuss (sr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Dave Schindewolf (fr. Robbinsville, NJ/Lawrence) made three and two saves respectively for the Profs. Goalie Dan Mangat (sr. Newark, DE/St. Mark’s) turned away seven shots in the Wildcats’ net.

Rowan travels to Ramapo College on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m.
