PATCHOGUE, NY – Midfielder Kerry Little had the winning goal for Rowan University in a 3-2 victory over host St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Sunday afternoon.
Little (sr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) scored the Profs’ third goal at 83:30. She hit the left side of the net on a pass from forward Michelle Carrocino (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.). It was Little’s third goal of the season.
Carrocino put Rowan on the scoreboard at 18:52 with an assist from forward Jenna Balestriere (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood). Midfielder Krista Verzi (so. Delran, NJ/Delran) made it 2-0 when she knocked in a corner kick by Carrocino. In 12 games, Carrocino has totaled a school record 40 points and 18 goals.
In the second half, St. Joseph’s rallied with two straight goals. Midfielder Jessica Durant had the first one at 51:52. Forward Jackie Barbour had the tying goal (54:17) on an indirect kick by midfielder Meghan Brady.
Rowan has a 10-2 record while St. Joseph’s is 7-4-1 on the season. In the Profs’ net, goalie Sarah Volkomer (so. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) made five saves. For the Golden Eagles, goalie Dana Carney stopped 14 shots. Rowan out shot St. Joseph’s, 19-7.
