BALTIMORE, MD – The Rowan University men’s cross country team took first place out of 10 schools at the Goucher College Classic on Saturday. The women’s team came in fourth overall among nine teams.
Mike Rivera (jr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) was the Profs’ first runner to finish. Rivera came in third with a time of 28:05.25 over the 8,000 meters course. Andrew Vasta (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and Eric Thomas (jr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) followed fourth (28:48.41) and fifth (28:52.04) respectively. Dan Ratty (jr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenalfy) was seventh (29:00.16) and Greg Kuczynski (jr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) took eighth (29:02.04).
Katelyn Sammon (sr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) was the women’s top finisher in 18th place. Sammon had a time of 26:25.78 on the 6,000 meters course. Kerry O’Donnell (sr. Toms River, NJ/.Toms River E.) came in 21st in 26:47.64. Angela Patane (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) was 24th (26:54.57) and Liz Guarini (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 28th (27:21.86). Also scoring was Laura O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) 38th (27:57.70).
Rowan’s next meet is the Collegiate Track Conference Championships on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m. The championships will be held at Richard Stockton College.
