Rowan Women's Soccer Wins 6-2 At SUNY Purchase

PURCHASE, NY – Forward Michelle Carrocino scored four goals to lead Rowan University in a 6-2 win at SUNY Purchase on Thursday.

Carrocino (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) tied the school record for goals and points in a game. She broke the record for goals (16) and points (35) in a season. In 11 games, Carrocino has 36 points and 17 goals. The previous records were held by Stephanie Allocco (1997). In 1995, Bridget Garrity set the mark for goals (four) and points (eight) in a game.

Back Alicia Kavlunas (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and midfielder Emilie Wilson (jr. Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) each contributed with a goal while midfielder Devon Marx (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had two assists. Goalie Melissa Hall (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made three saves.

Rowan (9-2) compiled 34 total shots and Purchase (4-6-1) took six. For Purchase, goalie Stephanie Janasiewicz stopped 13 shots and forward Susan Bigler had both goals.

Kavlunas put the Profs on the scoreboard at 4:04. Carrocino followed with two straight goals at 19:54 and 27:23. Marx assisted on the second one. Bigler had her first goal at 35:52 and Purchase trailed at the half, 3-1. In the second period, Bigler cut the deficit to one with her second goal at 53:08. Carrocino gave Rowan a 5-2 lead when she hit the net at 59:22 and 64:04. Wilson had the final goal at the 84th minute with an assist from Marx.

Rowan is on the road again at St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Sunday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
