GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan men’s and women’s swim teams defeated Salisbury University in the first home meet of the season on Tuesday night. The men won 165-97 while the women had a 152-110 victory.

Both the Rowan men and women are undefeated with 2-0 records. The Salisbury men and women each have a 1-2 mark.

The Rowan men took first place in the 200 medley relay in 1:40.10 with Kevin Baker (sr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury), Kevin Ovalle (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), Kevin Wallace (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Dan Kelley (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick). The 200 freestyle relay of Stephen Tucker (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart), Wallace, Baker and Kelley won with a time of 1:31.00.

The men finished first in 10 of the 12 individual events. Andrew Williams (sr. Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) was the winner in three events, the 100 breaststroke (1:05.09), the 500 free (5:11.94) and the 200 individual medley (2:06.87). Kelley was a double winner with first places in the 200 (1:52.70) and 100 (50.38) freestyles. Baker had winning times in the 100 backstroke (55.07) and the 200 breaststroke (2:11.34).

In the 200 butterfly, the Profs took first through third with David Shinton (sr. Newark, DE/Newark) (2:05.94), Jeremy Soto (so. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) (2:10.00) and Brian McDermott (fr. Bergenfield, NJ/Bergen Catholic) (2:12.50). Shinton also had a second place in the 100 free (51.75). McDermott was second in the 200 backstroke (2:10.60) followed by Soto third (2:12.87). Soto finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:10.00) and McDermott was third (2:12.50).

Wallace won the 100 butterfly (54.06) followed by Tucker second (56.46). James Sheerin (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) swam a winning time of 10:49.32 in the 1,000 freestyle. In the 50 free, Ryan McNally (fr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) came in second (22.94) while Ovalle was third (23.00) and Matt Bocian (so. Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) fourth (23.81). Mike Brooks (fr. Brigantine, NJ/Holy Spirit) had a second place in the 500 freestyle (5:12.87).

The Rowan women won the 200 medley (1:57.10) and 200 freestyle (1:45.51) relays. The medley relay included Kate Winters (fr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Stacey Rahter (fr. Somers Pont, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Aileen Milde (sr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) and Alicia Mackleer (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest). Stephanie McAllister (so. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), Milde, Christine DiRubbo (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Mackleer made up the free relay.

The women took first place in nine of the 12 individual events. Samantha Edwards (fr. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) had two first places in the 200 freestyle (2:10.47) and the 500 free (5:27.25). Megan McCourt (so. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was a double winner finishing first in the 100 (1:11.77) and 200 (2:34.52) breaststrokes. McAllister won the 100 backstroke (1:04.83) and she came in second in the 200 backstroke (2:21.52).

Winters took first in the 200 backstroke (2:15.38) and Rahter was the winner in the 200 individual medley (2:17.99). In the 50 free, Milde won in 26.26 followed by Lauren Hauser (so. Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) second (26.77). Mackleer finished first in the 100 free (55.12) and DiRubbo was second (58.16). Samantha King (so. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) had second places in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.28) and the 200 individual medley (2:21.57). Becky Goldberg (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) came in second in the 1000 freestyle (11:45.97).

In the 200 butterfly, Anne O’Gorman (fr. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) was second (2:20.36) and Ashley Gagnon (so. S. Amboy, NJ/Middlesex County Academy) took fourth (2:29.81). O’Gorman also took second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.61). Julianne Furdyna (fr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) and Gagnon were second (5:38.52) and third (5:41.93) respectively in the 500 freestyle.

Rowan’s next meet is at New York University on Saturday, November 3 at 1 p.m.
