GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Danielle Miranda recorded four goals to lead Rowan University over Drew University, 6-0 on Thursday night.
Rowan is 12-4 overall with a seven-game win streak while Drew has a 10-7 record. This week, the Profs are ranked 11th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches Poll.
Forwards Samantha Greene (jr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester City) and Stephanie Scarpa (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) each had one goal. The Profs out shot the Rangers, 16-1. In Drew’s net, goalie Elizabeth Young (so. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) made three saves. For Rowan, goalie Amanda Cucinotti (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had one save for her fifth shutout.
Miranda (sr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) scored all four goals in the first half. She started the scoring at 13:54 with a pass from back Kacey Ehret (so. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood). The second one came at 22:47 and forward Kiley Graham (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) had the assist. Miranda made it 3-0 at 30:54 on a feed from midfielder Jenna Lombardo (so. Barnegat, NJ/Southern Reg.). With 33 seconds left, Miranda hit the Rangers’ net with a blasting shot just inside the circle.
Miranda is the team’s leading scorer with 44 points, 21 goals and two assists. In the final period, Greene scored at 46:48. Scarpa had the last goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game. It was Greene’s 12th goal on the season and the first for Scarpa.
Rowan is on the road on Saturday, October 27 at conference opponent Ramapo College at 1 p.m.
