GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated conference opponent Richard Stockton College, 8-0 on Saturday. Forward Danielle Miranda led the Profs with three goals and forward Amanda Greene had two.
Forwards Kiley Graham (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Brielle Moreno (fr. Erial, NJ/Camden Catholic) and back Samantha Williams (fr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) added one goal apiece. Forward Rachel Cheafsky (fr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) totaled three assists and Graham had two.
Rowan is 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. This week, the Profs are ranked 11th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll. Richard Stockton drops to
2-14 on the season and 0-4 in the conference.
Rowan led 6-0 after the first half. Miranda started the scoring at 3:02 with a pass from Graham. On the second goal, Graham assisted on Greene’s first score at 8:44. Less than a minute later, Miranda hit the net for the second time with an assist from Cheafsky. At 13:17, Moreno made it 3-0 with a feed from Cheafsky.
Graham scored the fifth goal at 30:26 on a pass from back Erin Tideman (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.). With one second left, Miranda recorded her third goal and Cheafsky had her third assist. In the second period, Greene scored at 38:44 and midfielder Susan Massara (sr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) assisted. At 62:06, Williams scored the final goal of the game.
The Profs out shot the Ospreys, 30-1. Goalie Amanda Cucinotti (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made one save for her fourth shutout of the season. For Stockton, goalie Debi O’Kane (fr. Cologne, NJ/Absegami) stopped 14 shots.
Rowan is home again on Tuesday, October 23 against Alvernia College at 7 p.m.
