TCNJ Field Hockey Wins 3-0 Over Visiting Rowan

EWING, NJ – The College of New Jersey field hockey team had a 3-0 win over visiting conference opponent Rowan University on Tuesday night.

The third ranked Lions are 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs are 5-4 on the season with a 1-1 conference mark. This week, Rowan is 13th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll.

TCNJ had a 2-0 advantage after the first half. Midfielder Colleen Dougherty (sr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton) started the scoring at 7:28. Back Sheri Grondski (sr. Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had the second goal at 10:57 and back Jackie Gelinas (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) assisted.

In the second period, forward/midfielder Katie Reuther (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) made it 3-0 at 36:04. Reuther’s seventh goal of the year was unassisted.

The Lions totaled 11 shots while the Profs took 13. Goalie Caitlin Gregory (jr. Winslow, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made four saves for her fourth shutout. For Rowan, Amanda Cucinotti (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) stopped four shots.

Rowan is on the road again at Eastern University on Saturday, October 6 at noon.
