Gannon Scores Winning Goal In 1-0 Victory Over Rutgers-Newark

GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Tom Gannon scored Rowan University's winning goal in a 1-0 conference victory over Rutgers-Newark on Saturday night.

Gannon (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) headed in the game winner with 11:32 left in regulation. Midfielder Andrew Ocbo (fr. Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Twp.) had the assist.  It was the second time this week Gannon recorded the game winner. On Wednesday, he had the lone goal in a 1-0 overtime win at Ramapo College.

Rowan is 9-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rutgers-Newark has an 8-7-1 record with a 0-6 conference mark. The Profs totaled 18 shots while the Scarlet Raiders had nine. In Rowan’s goal, Kevin Nuss (sr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) stopped six shots for his third shutout on the season. For Rutgers-Newark, goalkeeper Jonathan Frances (fr. Chandler, AZ/Hamilton) made nine saves.

Rowan is home again on Monday, October 15 against Neumann College at 7 p.m.
